Meet viral ‘couple’ who stole show at Wrigley Field during Cubs-Rangers finale

The Chicago Cubs dropped Wednesday’s series finale to the Texas Rangers 6-2 in a game that most fans might not remember.

Most fans … but not all.

That’s because two Cubs fans were seen on the Marquee Sports Network broadcast sharing a hot dog “Lady and the Tramp” style in the background of Seiya Suzuki’s at-bat.

The cameras continuously panned to the fans, who were looking at their phones after more than likely being notified they had made the broadcast. However, their popularity didn’t stop once the game ended, as they went on 670 The Score’s ‘Spiegel and Holmes’ show shortly after the final out.

Co-host Laurence Holmes started the interview by asking: “Tristen and Robbie … so you two don’t know each other at all?”

“No.” Tristen replied.

“I had three hot dogs. She told me she had four,” Robbie said. “And I was like, ‘You know what? I can’t eat another (whole) one. I could probably split one, though.”

The two played along and were good sports about everything. Tristen even joked about the whole situation, saying, “I actually didn’t know that this was going to go viral, so my boyfriend at home is going to be pretty upset about it.”

“I’ve got a longstanding boyfriend. It was just friendly hot dog,” Tristen said.

“At the Friendly Confines.” Robbie interjected.

Tristen and Robbie weren’t the only fans who caught the attention of Marquee’s cameras Wednesday. A young fan braved the frigid temperatures by enjoying a cup of ice cream.

Finally, a fan had a sign that read ‘Will you marry me Antoinette?’ The fan can be seen tossing the sign, seemingly in disgust.

While the play on the field left more to be desired, Cubs fans certainly were entertaining in their own right.
