Small world: Christopher Morel’s former teammate caught his home run in Baltimore
Right now, everything Christopher Morel touches is magical.
The Cubs rookie ambushed the Orioles Tuesday night, drilling the first pitch of the game into the bleachers in left-center.
In a moment of shocking coincidence, that ball actually wound up in the hands of one of Morel’s former teammates, Connor Myers:
Unbelievable moment! I was talking to Morel 20 minutes before. https://t.co/kXbW2CpTfK

Myers and Morel played together with Double-A Tennessee last season in the Cubs farm system.
Myers is a native of Maryland and played his college baseball at Old Dominion University in Virginia.
The Cubs drafted the outfielder in the 27th round in 2016 and he was with the organization until June of last season, when he was released and wound up playing in the Independent League.
The homer was Morel’s 3rd of the season as his incredible rookie campaign continues. He is now hitting .298/.381/.524 and has reached base safely in all 21 games he has played in the majors.
