Sky star rookie Angel Reese will miss rest of season

Angel Reese’s stellar rookie season has come to an end.
The star forward announced on social media Saturday evening that she will miss the rest of the year due to injury:
She wrote:
“I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.’
“You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline!”
Earlier in the day Saturday, the team ruled Reese as “questionable” for Sunday’s game:
Reese has put together a strong case for the WNBA Rookie of the Year. The No. 7 overall pick this spring will finish the year averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
She has set several WNBA records this year, including a rookie record for double-doubles (26) as well as a single-season league record in total rebounds (446).
The Sky are currently battling for the final playoff spot in the league with a 12-22 record.
The Atlanta Dream (12-22) and Washington Mystics (11-23) are hot on their heels.
