4 days agoKarli Bell

The Chicago Sky have found their next head coach in Tyler Marsh after letting Teresa Weatherspoon go after just one year at the helm.

Marsh was an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces and head of player development. He was a part of the Aces organization during their back-to-back championship seasons in 2022 and 2023.

“I’m so grateful to be the next head coach of the Chicago Sky,” Marsh said in a statement. “Thank you to Jeff Pagliocca, Michael Alter and all of Sky ownership for their belief in me to be the next leader of this franchise. I’m looking forward to building relationships with our players and throughout our entire organization as we work towards establishing a championship culture on and off the court.”

Prior to the Aces, he spent two years with the Indiana Pacers as an assistant coach and in player development. In 2019, Marsh was a part of the NBA championship campaign in Toronto as an assistant video coordinator and player development coach with the Raptors.

Marsh also has 3 seasons of NBA G League experience from 2013-2017 and won a league championship in 2012 as a part of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers coaching staff. Marsh played collegiately at Alabama Birmingham (2006-08) and Birmingham-Southern (2008-10).

“Tyler’s relentless work ethic, deep understanding of the game, and his ability to connect with players on a personal level set him apart,” general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. “His commitment to developing each player’s unique strengths, along with his basketball acumen and calm, composed leadership style, make him an outstanding fit for our team. Tyler is known for his integrity, humility, and focus on building a culture rooted in trust and accountability. We are confident that he will lead the Sky to new heights and inspire our players and fans alike.”

Who Marsh will add onto his coaching staff is still yet to be seen as well as where the Sky will sit in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft. The lottery for the WNBA Draft is set for Sunday, November 17 at 4 p.m. on ESPN.
