Shota Imanaga’s incredibly thoughtful gesture for a Cubs fan before Friday’s game

4 months agoAndy Martinez

Take a stroll by the player’s entrance at Wrigley Field before a home game and you’ll see a fan amongst a gathering of others with a camera, snapping photos of players as they prepare to go to work: Sam Bernero.

The players know her and often stop to pose, take a selfie or pet her dog, Bogie, including Cubs star Shota Imanaga. And he made an unbelievably thoughtful gesture to show his appreciation.

Before Friday’s game against the Cardinals, Imanaga arrived with his favorite iced latte from Dunkin’ Donuts in his right hand and a second in his left. The second one was for Bernero, as a token of thanks for always supporting the team.

She’s there nearly every home game, capturing the moment players walk into the Friendly Confines and posts her best images on her social media accounts, routinely shared by players, too.

She was blown away by the gesture, too.
