Seiya Suzuki explains how Kyle Tucker impacts red-hot Cubs offense
Seiya Suzuki has found a home as the Chicago Cubs’ designated hitter and produced the results to match.
He slashed .355/.488/.774 (11-for-31) with four home runs and 12 RBI in eight games entering Tuesday night, a stretch in which the Cubs went 6-2.

Suzuki has benefited from hitting near Kyle Tucker in the order, as the reigning NL Player of the Week has been off to an equally hot start in his brief time with the North Siders.
“He’s a great player. I enjoy being teammates with him,” Suzuki told Marquee Sports Network’s Elise Menaker through his interpreter. “Watching him and learning a lot, staying aggressive and trying to almost mimic his approach. I think because of him, I think everybody on the team is hitting very well. I think he’s a very important part of the team.”
Mimicking Tucker’s approach certainly seemed to pay dividends Tuesday, as the right-handed slugger went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one walk and one run scored.
The entire Cubs offense has been electric to start 2025, as the team has scored at least seven runs in seven of its last eight games, highlighted by the series in Sacramento where they scored 35 runs. Suzuki was a big part of that offensive explosion, clubbing three homers and nine RBI in the series.
Suzuki and the Cubs return to action Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, looking to sweep aside the 2023 World Series champions. You can watch every pitch on Marquee Sports Network and the Marquee Sports Network app.
