Roy Wood Jr. on the story behind the Cubs robe
Actor and comedian Roy Wood Jr. joined host Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily, presented by Miller Lite, to discuss the story behind his Cubs robe and the legacy it left in 2016.
Wood Jr. went on to explain how he received a Cubs robe back in 2016 as a joke.
“I got this Cubs bath robe as a goof gift at work,” Wood Jr. said. “I get this robe and somebody said, ‘I know you hate robes, but I bet you’ll wear this robe if it has a Cubs logo on it.’ I wear the robe to a Cubs game and they win. I wore it to another game and they won again.”
Wood Jr. talked about how he would wear the robe for every Cubs game and talked about how he decided to go to Cleveland for Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.
“When Addison Russell hit that grand slam, I was sitting on my couch, I turned to my girl and said, ‘I have to go to Cleveland. I have to go to Cleveland. This is World Series Game 7.’ I took the robe, a pair of drawers and my laptop,” Wood Jr. said. “It immediately rained after the end of Game 7 of the World Series. My robe was [so] soaking wet that it never smelled the same and I’ve only worn it twice since.”
