Pat Hughes joins legendary broadcasters Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse in Cubs Hall of Fame

2 years agoAndy Martinez

Pat Hughes had a “pinch-me” moment Saturday afternoon.

Moments after his plaque was unveiled underneath the left field bleachers at historic Wrigley Field that enshrined him into the Cubs Hall of Fame, Hughes reflected on joining legendary broadcasters Harry Caray and Jack Brickhouse.

“I must’ve been doing something right,” Hughes said. “It’s very special. They were people that I got to know a little bit once I got to town. They treated me great from Day 1. I wish they could both be here today. They were good to me, and I admired them greatly. I had a lot of fun with both of them.”

Just two weeks ago, Cubs president of baseball Crane Kenney joined the radio booth with Hughes to share the special news. He joined José Cardenal and Buck O’Neil as this year’s inductees.
