NFL rumors: Bears will interview Iowa State coach Matt Campbell
Another unexpected name is being connected to the Bears.
Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell is expected to interview for the Chicago Bears’ open position, Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.
Campbell, the Cyclones’ head coach since 2016, has been awarded Big XII Coach of the Year three times. Iowa State has a 64-51 record during Campbell’s tenure and played in a bowl game in seven of his nine seasons.

Campbell has coached a number of NFL players while in Ames, including Jets running back Breece Hall, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and former Bears running back David Montgomery.
A native of Massillon, Ohio, Campbell attended and played college football at Division III powerhouse Mount Union. He was a teammate of current Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni there.
