NFL mock draft roundup: Analysts have Bears adding size up front
The Bears are currently in possession of the No. 9 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. That’s temporary, and will adjust based on how they fare down the stretch. Lose more often and the pick gets better.

That’s not that this prideful group of players is looking to achieve, not after a season full of high expectations has gone south. It’s where we’re at, however. The NFL mock drafts are pouring in even at this early stage, so let’s at least sneak a peek at who the top analysts have the Bears picking at this point:
Field Yates, ESPN
No. 9 overall: OT Will Campbell, Louisiana State
Analysis: No team has surrendered more sacks this season than the Bears, who saw Caleb Williams get dropped seven times Sunday against the 49ers. Campbell is an incredibly balanced player with terrific footwork – I’d argue, better than any offensive lineman in this class – and has 37 career starts worth of experience. He was a day one starter at left tackle for LSU, and while Campbell is noy 20 years old, he brings plenty of polish to the position.
Nick Baumgardner, The Athletic
No. 9 overall: DL Mykel Williams, Georgia
Analysis: “The Bears probably would prefer (Michigan DT Mason) Graham here, if we’re being honest, as their bigger defensive need up front right now might be inside. However, Williams is arguably the most athletic big man in this draft and versatile enough to wear a few hats. He’s not going to be an over-the-ball run stuffer, but he absolutely can add pass-rush pop over a guard, if need be, while he continues to grow as a long, quick, explosive edge with limitless potential.
Williams has to stay healthy and on the field. If he has a big College Football Playoff run for Georgia in the coming weeks, we could be talking about him in the top five.”
Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports
No. 9 overall: DL Mykel Williams, Georgia
Analysis: “Georgia has a history of producing insane athletes, and Mykel Williams may end up being the best of the group. He’s a first-round talent all day long, and he could end up being one of the first defenders off the board in April.”
Kyle Crabbs, The 33rd Team
No. 9 overall: OT Kelvin Banks, Texas
Analysis: “The Bears and Caleb Williams both need to do their part in ensuring that the young quarterback takes fewer hits in 2025. Williams entered Week 14, leading the league in sacks taken and yards lost by sacks.
The offensive scheme needs to be better, but so does Williams in being calculated outside of the structure. Williams can use this year’s reps to learn how to do his part. And GM Ryan Poles can do his part in this process by adding a legitimate left tackle to the front. Kelvin Banks Jr. has the best traits to bet on.”
