Bears fool Packers with trick play for punt return touchdown

2 days agoStaff Report

In the last game of a trying season, the Bears still had a trick up their sleeves for their rival.

Scoreless in the first quarter, the Bears defense forced Green Bay to punt. Daniel Whelan booted the ball deep into Bears territory with DJ Moore back to receive the kick on the near sideline.

The Packers coverage team charged at Moore, while Bears defensive back Josh Blackwell ran down the opposite sideline. The third-year player fielded the ball and ran it up the far sideline 94 yards for a touchdown, fooling the Packers and everyone else and giving the Bears a 7-0 lead.

It was the first punt return touchdown for the Bears since 2021.
