More shakeup coming to Cubs coaching staff

The Cubs are making more changes to their coaching staff.
Third base coach Willie Harris will not return to the team in 2025, as the two sides parted ways, sources confirmed to Marquee Sports Network.
Harris joined the Cubs coaching staff in December 2020 and has been with the team for the last 4 seasons. In addition to serving as the third base coach, he has worked with the team’s outfielders and been a part of baserunning strategy.

That means the Cubs will now have to replace both of their base coaches, as first base coach Mike Napoli also departed earlier this offseason.
In addition to Napoli and Harris, the Cubs parted ways with assistant hitting coach Jim Adduci and bullpen coach Darren Holmes while also reconfiguring the strength and conditioning staff.
Craig Counsell will now have a full offseason to build the coaching staff around him. He took over as manager in November last season and inherited most of the coaches.
The Cubs’ baserunning was up-and-down throughout the 2024 campaign. They ranked 5th in MLB in baserunning value according to FanGraphs and were 4th in stolen base percentage. But they also the 2nd-most outs on the bases and 2nd-most outs at home plate this season.
