Lone Cubs player among finalists for NL Silver Slugger Award
Major League Baseball announced Silver Slugger finalists Monday morning and the Cubs had a lone representative.
Seiya Suzuki joined a group of 5 outfield finalists for the award.
Milwaukee’s Jackson Chourio, L.A’s Teoscar Hernandez and San Diego’s Jackson Merrill and Jurickson Profar will compete against Suzuki for the accolade.
Three of those 5 players will take home the award.

The winners are decided by votes from managers and 3 coaches from each team around the league. They will be announced on Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. CT on MLB Network.
Suzuki, 30, enjoyed his best season yet in his 3rd year in the big leagues.
He spent a month on the IL in April and May with an oblique strain but turned in career highs in WAR (3.5), homers (21), stolen bases (16), on-base percentage (.366), OPS (.848) and OPS+ (138).

Suzuki paced the 2024 Cubs in OBP, SLG and OPS and finished 2nd in homers and hits.
He has 2 years remaining on the 5-year, $85 million deal he inked prior to the 2022 season.
Out of 15 NL teams, the Cubs as a team finished 11th in batting average (.242), 8th in OPS (.710) and 7th in runs (736).
