Javy Báez shares heartfelt message for Cubs fans in return to Wrigley Field
Cubs fans were not shy about showing their love for Javy Báez in his return to Wrigley Field Tuesday night.
It was quite the reunion, as it had been 1,118 days since “El Mago” has played at The Friendly Confines.
He got to catch up with former World Series-winning teammates Kyle Hendricks and Dexter Fowler on the field.
And of course there were the fans who showed their love throughout the evening, from signs to shirts to cheers.
Báez had a special message for Cubs fans when he stopped by the Cubs Live! set on Marquee Sports Network.
“To all the fans out there, especially here in Chicago: thank you,” Báez said to Fowler and Cole Wright. “Thank you for all the time that you guys spent in sports, not just in baseball.
“As players, we did a lot for the community – especially Tony Rizzo. He did a lot for this city. And Jon Lester. They really care about the team, the sport and winning too.”

Báez reflected back on his career journey with the Cubs and attempted to explain what Wrigley Field means to him.
He and the Tigers got into town on Monday and Báez enjoyed his off-day by walking around downtown Chicago, shopping with his wife on Michigan Ave.
“It’s always special to be here,” he said. “One of my kids was born here, so I can call it home. I grew up with this organization.”
