Ian Happ just demolished a baseball and earned a spot in the Cubs record books – briefly

The initial reported distance was at 473 feet, which would have been one of the longest blasts by a Cubs player in the last decade.
The home run gave the Cubs a 5-2 lead over the Blue Jays.
The initial reported distance would have been the longest homer by a Cubs player since Kyle Schwarber also connected on a 473-foot shot on July 28, 2019.

The last time a Cub hit a ball farther was Javy Báez in August 2018 – a 481-foot moonshot.
473 feet would rank as the the 5th-longest by a Cubs player since Statcast began tracking in 2015.
It was Happ’s 21st homer of the season and he now has 68 runs driven in.
