Grace on throwing growth in his rookie season
Former Cubs first baseman Mark Grace joined Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily to discuss the evolution of the first base position. Grace spoke about his growth in his first few years in the majors, and there was one particular part of the game that he knew he needed to improve: throwing.
“Our hitting coach would get me out there at 8 a.m…and he would stand at second base…and hit me fungos, and I would just work on my throwing. Finally, it got better. [In] my rookie year, I led all first basemen in errors, and I didn’t get called up until May.”
