DJ Moore responds to Xavier McKinney criticism before Bears, Packers clash
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Xavier McKinney had quite a bit to say about Bears receiver DJ Moore this week in his meeting with Packers reporters.
None of it was kind.
The NFL’s interceptions leader brought up a slight from the offseason, when Moore was asked by Kay Adams about McKinney coming to Green Bay in free agency and the Lions adding some cornerbacks.
Moore’s response to the question: “That’s nice.”

McKinney brought up that interview without prompting and launched into a long diatribe criticizing Moore, including the moment in Arizona where he left the field while Caleb Williams was scrambling to try and make a play.
McKinney’s Wednesday comment spread quickly and unsurprisingly reached Moore.
When asked on Thursday for a response, Moore didn’t fuel the fire.
“I don’t think I hurt his feelings. What did I say, ‘That’s nice?’” Moore said. “He’s a good player. I’ve played ‘X’ a few times. Looking forward to the battle.”
McKinney was strong in his criticism of Moore, especially the Cardinals play, where he said he left the field because he rolled his ankle.
“Playing in the league, every Sunday, Monday, Thursday, I’m watching the games,” McKinney said, via The Athletic. “I’ve got Sunday Ticket, so I sit in my room. I’ve got a TV, my monitor and I watch every game. I’m paying attention to formations, little things, how people are playing when they’re up, how people are playing when they’re down, what players are doing.
“(Moore) is another one of those guys, same guy, play’s still going on and you walk off the field on your offense. You know, you take note of that. Everybody takes note of that and we see it and we’re going to work it accordingly.”
McKinney was then asked if Moore knows him now, after his strong start to the season.
“I hope so, but I don’t give a damn about what he knows,” McKinney said. “This dude walked out on … I’ve been playing (NFL) football for five years now and I’ve been watching football for longer than that and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a … You’re supposed to be the guy and you’re just walking off the field. You’re walking off the field on a rookie quarterback that you’ve been praising, so it’s like, that’s a whole other story.”
McKinney was then told that Moore left the field with an injury.
“Cap,” McKinney said. “That’s what I say. Cap.”
Moore wouldn’t engage in a war of words when given the opportunity.
“It is what it is,” Moore said. “Trash talk is trash talk. We’ll just see on Sunday how it all plays out to be.”
Does add anymore juice to the rivalry and a game the Bears have to win?
“It’s already there,” Moore said. “We’ll see on Sunday.”
