David Ross: ‘I want to kick everybody’s butt on the other side’
Prior to Saturday’s game against the White Sox, David Ross was asked if he or the Cubs have any extra motivation to beat their crosstown rivals.
“I want to kick everybody’s butt on the other side,” Ross said. “It doesn’t matter what uniform they have on. Something that I think is a big part of winning and success that I’ve been a part of is that you come to kick everybody’s butt on a daily basis and the moment you start putting one uniform above the other, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. You should come to work every day trying to win the game and play as hard as you can everyday.
“That’s the way I hope our guys look at it, that’s the way I looked at it later in my career when I learned what it was like to be on a championship caliber team. So just speaking for my experience — I can’t speak for them or our guys, but I’ll speak for me. We want to win them all. If we start taking one team lighter than the other or vice versa, then that’s not the kind of brand of baseball that we want to play here for the Cubs.”
