David Ross ejected in final game before All-Star break

1 year agoStaff Report

The All-Star break started a bit early for David Ross.

The Cubs manager was ejected with no outs in the 1st inning after arguing with home plate umpire Alex MacKay.

Kyle Hendricks was called for a pitch timer violation before he threw a pitch. As Hendricks finished throwing his warmup pitches, MacKay called Hendricks for a violation and the at-bat with Gleyber Torres started 1-0.

While Giancarlo Stanton — the next batter — was at the plate, Ross began to argue with MacKay and was thrown out of the game. It’s the fourth time this season that David Ross has been ejected from a game.

Torres would go on to single and then score on a double from Anthony Rizzo.
