Dansby Swanson made Cubs history this weekend in Toronto
The Cubs continue to find ways to win and Saturday’s victory came with the added bonus of a new franchise record.
Dansby Swanson’s 3-run homer in the 4th inning made him the first Cub ever to hit a home run in three separate countries in the same season. He has 16 homers in the U.S., went deep in the first game in London on June 24 and has now homered in Canada.
Swanson’s heroics helped lead the Cubs to a hard-fought 5-4 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto Saturday afternoon.
Cody Bellinger got the scoring started in the 4th inning by fouling off several pitches before going down to one knee to knock in a run with an RBI single:
The 4th inning at-bat perfectly embodies Cody Bellinger's incredible season with the Cubs.

Swanson followed with his 3-run blast to stake Cubs ace to a 4-1 lead. It was his 18th homer of the season and he now has 58 RBI in his first year in Chicago.
After the Blue Jays battled back to tie things up, Christopher Morel came up clutch in the top of the 9th inning with an RBI double to drive home Bellinger.
Former Blue Jay Julian Merryweather picked up his 4th win of the season in relief as he pitched a scoreless 8th inning. Adbert Alzolay notched his 16th save with a perfect 9th.
“Really good team win,” manager David Ross said.
The Cubs have now won 6 of their 8 series since the All-Star Break and will go for the sweep Sunday afternoon. Coverage kicks off with Cubs Live! at 11:30 a.m.
