Cubs, Wrigley Field will play host to The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series

More hockey is coming to Wrigley Field.
In addition to the Winter Classic that will be held between the St. Louis Blues and Blackhawks on Dec. 31, “The Friendly Confines” will also play host to a slew of college hockey games in January.
The Cubs and Big Ten Conference announced “The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series” Thursday morning at Wrigley Field, detailing the event.
Penn State will take on Notre Dame on Friday, Jan. 3 at Wrigley Field followed by Ohio State vs. Michigan.
Then on Saturday, Jan. 4, Clark and Addison will play host to a women’s game from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (Ohio State vs. Wisconsin) and Wisconsin will play Michigan State.

“We brought this idea a little over a year ago to Tony Pettit and his team and they immediately seized on the opportunity,” said Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney. “A lot of logistics to bring all the schools in, rearrange the schedule, accept the idea that we would play a great tournament at Wrigley Field.”
