Chicago Sky earn No. 3 pick for 2025 WNBA Draft
The 2025 WNBA Draft order is set with the Chicago Sky getting the No. 3 overall pick as a result of the Draft Lottery. The draft order for the 1st round is as follows:
- Dallas Wings
- Los Angeles Sparks
- Chicago Sky
- Washington Mystics
- Golden State Valkyries
- Washington Mystics (from ATL)
- New York Liberty (from PHX)
- Indiana Fever
- Seattle Storm
- Chicago Sky (from CT)
- Minnesota Lynx
- Phoenix Mercury (from NY)
All eyes now turn to the women’s college basketball season that is just now getting underway in the middle of November. With a guard heavy draft, the Sky are looking to add some length to the back court with a guard and wing focus.
“The top priority is going to be shooting,” general manager Jeff Pagliocca said. “I’ll always look at positional size. If we can find a point guard that’s over 6 feet tall, that would be great. If we’re looking at a wing, it could be 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3 in a perfect world. With that type of length, it gives them a lot of different abilities during the course of a game when it comes to making plays in the paint, seeing over defenses to make plays for other people and getting their shots off over maybe guards or matchups at their size.”
The Chicago Sky will also have a pick in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds. However, that could change come free agency and possible trades made this offseason.
Next up for the Sky and the rest of the WNBA is the expansion draft which is set for December 6.
