Chicago Sky add guard Lindsay Allen in free agency
With the departure of Courtney Williams to Minnesota in free agency, general manager Jeff Pagliocca decided to take one of the Lynx in guard Lindsay Allen in free agency.
“Lindsay will be a great addition to our roster this season,” Pagliocca said in a statement. “She has grit, tenacity and a hunger to win — that is the type of player Coach Weatherspoon and I want on our team. We cannot wait to welcome Lindsay to Chicago.”
The Notre Dame alum is signing a 2-year deal with the Sky.
She brings 6 years of WNBA experience, spending the last 2 seasons with Minnesota. Over the 29 games, she had her best statistical year with 6.2 ppg and 4.5 apg while shooting just shy of 40% from the floor. Allen is currently playing overseas in Turkey, averaging 14.7 ppg, 8.0 apg and 4.1 rpg over 15 Turkish League games.
Allen found her confidence the last two years in Minnesota offensively. She penetrates the lane with ferocity and also has great court vision to be able to find the extra pass for what could be a better shot. She has the toughness to battle inside for rebounds and attack the basket to draw the contact.
Adding Allen into the guard mix with Dana Evans, Marina Mabrey and Kahleah Copper provides speed and grit that the Sky pride themselves on and want to continue under the new regime of Weatherspoon and Pagliocca.
