At least one Chicago team is headed to the playoffs in 2024.

The Red Stars earned a trip to the National Women’s Soccer League postseason Sunday as the Washington Spirit claimed a victory over Racing Louisville FC.

Entering the weekend, there were several different paths for the Red Stars to make the playoffs:

Chicago lost 2-0 on Saturday but still found its way into the postseason with Washington’s win.

The Red Stars are 10-12-2 on the season and have 2 more games left in the regular season – ironically against the Spirt on Sunday, Oct. 20 in D.C. before hosting Kansas City on Sunday, Nov. 3.

The NWSL Playoff will begin on Nov. 9, when the Red Stars will travel to one of the Top 4 seeds for a road match.

The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinal round on Nov. 16-17 and the NWSL Championship is set for Nov. 23 in Kansas City.
