We’ve started a fun competition among those of us covering the Bears at Marquee Sports Network this season. We’ll come up with some prop bets for each Bears game this season, with Tom Waddle, Cole Wright, Robbie Gould, our resident stats wizard Lance Brozdowski and Bears Insider Scott Bair going with over/unders on several categories. We’ll tally up how many we get right each week and add to our running season total. We’ll crown a victor at the end of the year and come up with a trophy of some kind to reward them.

So, let’s get to it. Here’s are our picks from this week:

Tom Waddle

D’Andre Swift: 42.5 rushing yards — OVER

I think he easily goes over 42.5 rushing yards. I think the Bears will focus more on rushing the football this week, so that’s an easy over for me.

DJ Moore: 63.5 receiving yards — OVER

You can give me whatever number you want. He’s my favorite player on this team, and I think he’s my favorite player as well. And they have some injuries at the wide receiver position. I think he’ll be looked at early and often.

Bears defense: 1.5 sacks — OVER

It’s an over festival. I think they’re going over 1.5 sacks. For as good as he was last year, C.J. Stroud was sacked 38 times. He was sacked another four times in Week 1 by the Indianapolis Colts. I think the Bears will get more than a sack and a half.

Overall field goals: 3.5 — OVER

I think the Bears will do a decent enough job keeping the Texans out of the end zone, so they’ll have to kick some field goals. And I’m not sure that this Bears offense is where they want to be right now, so they might not find the end zone as often as much as we would like.

Cole Wright

C.J.Stroud: 0 interceptions — OVER

I think my man’s going to get a little sloppy playing some hero ball, trying to get those Houston Texans a win.

Caleb Williams: 214.5 passing yards — UNDER

I think he’s going under, just by a hair. I think he had 205 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Do with that what you will.

Texans/Bears more punts: BEARS

I know Tory Taylor doesn’t like the name Crocodile Punter, but when you’re from Australia and you punt, that’s what you’re going to get. He’s going to lead the game in that category

Total points: 45.5 — UNDER

I have the final score at 21-17 with the Chicago Bears coming out on top so, with the line at 45.5, I’m going under there.

Robbie Gould

Shortest field goal: 26.5 yards — OVER

I’m going with the over. I’ve kicked there and I like kicking there. I know the Bears, in this matchup, have been there eight times. I know both kickers and I think they’re going over in this matchup. And I don’t like hook.

Total points: 45.5 — OVER

I’m going to go over. I think that C.J. Stroud bounces back after the game that he had. I think that Joe Mixon continues doing well after a big game (in Week 1). I think that the Bears bounce back in terms of points and I expect Caleb Williams to have a very nice game and for the run game to get going. I’m going with the over. My prediction is going to be that the Bears win 30-27.

Scott Bair

D’Andre Swift: 42.5 rushing yards — OVER

That one wasn’t tough. Swift and the Bears ground game wasn’t efficient against Tennessee, but this is a game where I think Swift asserts himself and has the type of day he was signed here to have. I think he’s far closer to triple digits than he is this line.

DJ Moore: 63.5 receiving yards — OVER

There’s some uncertainty around playing status for Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze, which means more targets are coming Moore’s way. He generally catches them and gets solid run after the catch, so I think he has a strong day and helps Caleb Williams get on track Sunday night.

Caleb Williams: 214.5 passing yards — UNDER

As I said earlier, I think the Bears run game asserts itself on Sunday and allows Williams to play point guard with short, on-schedule passes. Williams will be far more efficient than last week, but he won’t put up gaudy stats.

Total points: 45.5 — UNDER

There’s plenty of offensive talent in this game, but I think both defenses hold serve in Week 2 and keep this as a low scoring game. It’s possible that both teams are in the teens at the end of this one. I don’t know who’s going to win, but I know it’s going to be close.

Lance Brozdowski

D’Andre Swift: 42.5 rushing yards — UNDER

DJ Moore: 63.5 receiving yards — OVER
