LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Rome Odunze will be “day-to-day” after suffering a knee injury in a Week 1 victory over the Tennessee. The Bears received some good news following a scary moment where two players ran into Odunze’s knee while he was blocking for a screen play.

Imaging showed the rookie receiver suffered an MCL sprain, and head coach Matt Eberflus said that the team will evaluate him each day to determine his availability. He did not practice on Wednesday afternoon.

“When you have somebody fall on your leg like that, it’s fortunate that it’s not that serious,” Eberflus said. “We’re lucky in that way.”

Keenan Allen didn’t practice, either, while resting a heel injury that has bothered him for a few weeks. Eberflus said that rest is the best thing for Allen’s ailment, and that they’ll monitor his recovery before determining how much time he’ll miss.

Eberflus didn’t rule Odunze out of Sunday’s game against the host Houston Texans, but was cautious to avoid any commitment on his status.

“It’s day to day,” Eberflus said. “We’re in a good spot that it’s nothing serious.”
