Report: Bears WR Rome Odunze suffered sprained MCL in NFL debut vs. Titans
The Bears have reportedly received an update regarding Rome Odunze’s injury status.
The rookie receiver and No. 9 overall draft pick has a sprained MCL and his status will be evaluated each week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday evening, citing sources.
All things considered, that’s good news for the Bears. Head coach Matt Eberflus expressed some concern about Odunze’s knee injury during a Monday press conference, when he stated that the player was scheduled for an MRI on the impacted joint. At the time, he didn’t have results of the imaging.
The MRI could’ve pointed to a prognosis far worse than what he suffered, with the possibility of a knee injury being a season-ender.
That’s reportedly not the case, meaning the Bears might not be without their talented receiver for a prolonged stretch.
We’ll know more about the Bears plans for Odunze on Wednesday, when Eberflus holds his next press conference.
While Eberflus said he didn’t know the exact play where Odunze suffered his injury, it’s likely to have happened on this play below.
Outside Odunze, the Bears feature Keenan Allen, DJ Moore and Tyler Scott at the receiver spot, in addition to kick returner DeAndre Carter.
