Bears injury report: Tyrique Stevenson, Teven Jenkins among others receiving designations vs. Jaguars

WARE, England — Tyrique Stevenson hurt his calf during the practice week leading up to a Week 6 clash against Jacksonville, making it unlikely he can play the Jaguars on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That said, it’s not completely out of the question.

The Bears designated him as doubtful on their official injury report, which was released Friday following a practice at Hanbury Manor.

Stevenson showed up on the participation report Thursday as limited with a calf injury and didn’t participate on Friday, leading to his designation.

“It was a plant-point-and-drive, and he felt something in his calf,” head coach Matt Eberflus said. “We took him out of practice then, and he has been rehabbing over the hours since it happened. We’ll see where it goes.”

Eberflus said that the Bears will evaluate him on Saturday to possibly update his status, though he’ll continue to rehab in an attempt to get back on the field as soon as possible.

Left guard Teven Jenkins was considered questionable with an ankle injury suffered in Week 5, though Eberflus said he “looked good” in Friday’s practice and that the Bears are hopeful to get him back in the lineup.

Eberflus formally ruled safety Jaquan Brisker out on Wednesday, though he didn’t travel with the Bears to London after self-reporting concussion-like symptoms on Monday afternoon. He was diagnosed with a concussion shortly after.

That creates the prospect that the Bears could be down two starting defensive backs against a Jaguars offense that has some fierce weapons in the passing game.

Elijah Hicks will start in Brisker’s place, and Jaylon Jones should be the fill-in if Stevenson can’t go.

“Jones has played for us a bunch and is someone who has been in our system,” Eberflus said. “He knows it in and out. … The coaches have been focus on technique and fundamentals, so (Jonens and Hicks) will be good there. The others trust those two because they’ve been in there and have played for us and produced.”

Defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin) and defensive back Terrell Smith (hip) didn’t travel with the team and are unavailable this week.

Here’s the complete injury report, as submitted by the Bears on Friday.
