Catching up with Cubs prospect Owen Caissie
The Cubs named Owen Caissie the organization’s minor league player of the month for May and the prospect joined Cubs Live! Tuesday.
Caissie — whom the Cubs acquired in the Yu Darvish trade two winters ago — explains to Lance Brozdowski how he got locked in for May after a bit of a slow start to the 2022 season.
He hit .122 with a .336 OPS in 13 April games but turned it on in May.
Caissie slashed .313/.380/.530 (.911 OPS) in the month with 4 homers and more RBI (26) than games played (23).
The outfielder doesn’t turn 20 until July but has already shown he can make adjustments at Advanced Class-A South Bend.
Caissie also chats with Brozdowski about a number of other topics, including:
—Fellow outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who was recently promoted to South Bend
—Which teammate has impressed him the most so far this season
—What it’s like playing the same team for 6 straight games with the newer minor league schedule
—Goals for the rest of the season
