Bears injury report: D’Andre Swift, DJ Moore questionable vs. 49ers

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Bears had several star skill players miss practice this week heading into Sunday’s game against the 49ers and Thomas Brown’s first as interim head coach.
That list included running backs D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson and (gasp!) receivers DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. The Bears official injury report gave a more accurate indicator as to who would be available for this road game at Levi’s Stadium.

The news was mixed. Johnson was formally ruled out of Sunday’s game, along with safety Elijah Hicks and offensive lineman Ryan Bates.
Swift and Moore were formally considered questionable on the injury report, which was announced on Friday afternoon. Both guys were limited in Friday’s walk-through practice, after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
Interim head coach Thomas Brown said Swift and Moore looked good running around on Friday, but he’ll see how the next few days go. Moore seemed optimistic about his playing status, but wouldn’t fully commit to being available
Brown also said that he anticipated Travis Homer being a bigger part of the game plan with Johnson unavailable, and that Homer is fully capable of executing runs normally assigned to Johnson. Regardless of Swift’s game-day playing status, the team will likely elevate a running back from the practice squad.
Allen missed Wednesday’s practice but was a full go after that and will be available to play against the 49ers. Same with right tackle Darnell Wright, a boon for a Bears offensive line much better with him that without.
