Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson apologizes after appearing to taunt fans during fateful Hail Mary
LANDOVER, Md. – Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was on the far right side of the Bears defense as the Washington Commanders lined up for a Hail Mary with two second left on the clock, but wasn’t facing the field when the ball was snapped.
A video gone viral shows Stevenson appearing to taunt Commanders fans at Northwest Stadium as the play began, then springing to action later than everyone else.

He rushed toward the center of the end zone, then stayed on the right side as Jayden Daniels scrambled. Stevenson ultimately tipped the heave, only to have it ricochet back to a wide open Noah Brown to secure Washington’s improbable 18-15 victory.
While exact defensive assignments on the play are not publicly known at this time, Brown was lined up wide on Stevenson’s side of the field to start the sequence.

Stevenson declined comment after the game, but stated he would speak to the media on Monday.
He took to social media later Sunday evening to apologize for his part in a low percentage play that was completed and squandered a go-ahead Bears touchdown with roughly 25 seconds remaining.
