Angel Reese named to 2024 WNBA All-Star Game

2 months agoKarli Bell

Rookie Angel Reese will be the sole Chicago Sky representative in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game.

Reese joins just Courtney Vandersloot, Elena Delle Donne and Candice Dupree as the only Sky players to be named an All-Star in their first season.

“I’m just so happy. I know the work I put in. Coming into this league, so many people doubted me and didn’t think my game would translate,” Reese said with tears coming down her face after the win over the Dream Tuesday night. “I trusted the process and I believed. I’m thankful that I dropped to No. 7 and was able to come to Chicago. It’s just a blessing. I can’t thank my teammates and coaches enough for believing in me and trusting me.”

Reese is leading all rookies in multiple categories, including offensive rebounds (4.8 rpg), defensive rebounds (6.6 rpg), total rebounds (11.4) and steals (1.5 spg). She’s ranked second in points among rookies with her 11.6 average.

Reese leads all of the WNBA with her 11.4 rpg average.

She recently broke the WNBA rookie record and single-season record for most consecutive double-doubles. She racked up her 11th straight in the Sky’s 85-77 victory on July 2 over the Atlanta Dream.

The 2024 WNBA All-Star game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th in Phoenix on ABC.
