It has been a disappointing year for Chicago sports fans but they can take solace in watching at least one of their teams take part in the postseason.

The Chicago Red Stars kick off the NWSL playoffs Friday night at 7 p.m. against the Pride in Orlando, Fla.

The Red Stars finished the 2024 season as the No. 8 seed in the league with a 10-14-2 record.

The Pride notched the best record in the NWSL at 18-2-6.

If the Red Stars win, they advance to the semifinals, which will be played on either Nov. 16 or 17.
