Bears injury report: Darnell Wright, Braxton Jones among those ruled out vs. Patriots
The Bears will play Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots without either of their starting offensive tackles. Left tackle Braxton Jones and right tackle Darnell Wright were ruled out with knee injuries, the team announced Friday on its official injury report.
Jones got hurt in Week 8 versus Washington and will miss his second straight game after suffering his injury. He was a limited participant on Thursday but didn’t go on Friday, a sign that he’s not quite ready.

Wright got hurt last week against Arizona and did not practice all week. Reserve offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie (calf) is also out, so the Bears must get creative when forming their offensive front. Larry Borom started at left tackle last week, and it’s logical that he could do so again. Jake Curhan stepped in for Wright against the Cardinals as a practice-squad elevation and it’s possible the Bears could keep him at right tackle. Curhan has nine career starts and worked in Shane Waldron’s scheme while representing Seattle.
Starting right guard Matt Pryor can play tackle as well, but head coach Matt Eberflus said the Bears would rather make the fewest possible adjustments to the line. Interior offensive lineman Ryan Bates could help out as well. Eberflus told reporters that Bates would be activated off injured reserve before Sunday’s game, but wouldn’t address which linemen would start where.
Safety Jaquan Brisker was also ruled out with a concussion, confirming what Eberflus stating earlier in this week.
Slot cornerback Kyler Gordon suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 against Jacksonville, when he was playing some excellent football. He was deemed questionable to play last week in Arizona but will make his return on Sunday. So will edge rusher Montez Sweat (shin) and left guard Teven Jenkins (knee), good news for a Bears team ailing in other places.
