Cubs announce front office moves; scouts honored
The Cubs front office received recognition from both inside and outside of the organization over the last few days.
Louie Eljaua, the Cubs Vice President of International scouting was honored as the 2021 International Scout of the Year over the weekend. Eljaua has helped sign 21 big leaguers in his career.

Bobby Filotei was named the recipient of the 2021 Cubs Stan Zielinski Scout of the Year Award.
Tuesday, the Cubs announced they had made changes in their baseball operations and scouting department. Among the most notable moves, Matt Dorey was promoted to Vice President, Player Personnel. He served as Vice President, Player Development the last season. Dorey has been with the Cubs since 2012.
Jared Banner will take over Dorey’s old role. He joined the Cubs as Vice President of Special Projects ahead of the 2021 season. Prior to that, Banner was the Executive Director, Player Development with the Mets from 2019-2020.
Danny Hultzen was promoted to Major League Pitching Strategist. Hultzen was a first-round draft pick in the 2011 draft by the Seattle Mariners. He made his big-league debut with the Cubs in 2019 and joined the organization as a pitching development Assistant in 2021.
Andrew Bassett was promoted from Director of Pro Scouting to Director, Pro Scouting/Special Assistant to the President and General Manager. Bassett joined the Cubs in 2011.
Garrett Chiado was named Pro Analytics director. He joined the organization in 2016 and most recently served as Senior Player Evaluation Analyst, Research and Development.
Chris Jones, who joined the Cubs in 2014, was promoted to Director, Research and Development.
Bobby Basham was named Special Assistant, Innovation. He was the Director of Player Development in 2021 and was the Director of Special Projects/Assistant Director of Player Development before that.
