Watch Ben Johnson pump up Colston Loveland after Bears draft him

One of the best parts about the NFL draft is players’ reactions, especially when they receive the call from general managers and coaches.

First-round pick Colston Loveland‘s draft night interaction with Ryan Poles, Ben Johnson and Kevin Warren didn’t disappoint, and the Chicago Bears captured it all on camera.

Loveland was hyped up.

“I can’t wait to be a Bear,” Loveland told Poles and Johnson. “It’s going to be great. Let’s go win games.”

Johnson’s excitement was palpable as well.

“We cooking with hot grease now, man. I’m telling you,” the new Bears coach said. “Smart, tough explosive — I know exactly what we’re getting, man. … It’s huge. This is the first pick as a head coach, man. It’s beautiful.

“It’s a match made in heaven.”

Come for the speech but stay for the Poles-Johnson high five at the end of the video.

It’s the type of reaction that shows why the Bears made Loveland the first tight end off the board — even over Penn State’s Tyler Warren.

Former Bears coach Dave Wannstedt believes Loveland will be a great fit with Johnson from the outset, and even could turn into the Bears’ version of Travis Kelce. Loveland can slot in alongside Cole Kmet to form a dynamic tight end duo for the Bears and give quarterback Caleb Williams another target in the passing game.
